Also known as a float valve and a fill valve. Controls the flow of water into a gravity-operated toilet tank. When the toilet is flushed the float ball drops with the water level causing the ballcock to open, this allows the water to reenter the tank. As the water level in the tank rises it lifts the float ball causing the ballcock to close (shutoff) once the tank is completely filled
